The Sox suffered their first loss on Tuesday against the Halos. After jumping out to an early 3-1 lead through the impressive hitting/baserunning display of their mighty top half of the order, the Red Sox let the Angels come back in the sixth to win 4-3.
The Red Sox could not get their bats going after the first inning and only got through their entire batting order twice during the game. The coaches recommended individual trips to the batting cages and will be checking each players bat selection in the upcoming games. Many batters were way behind the pitches and are using bats that are too heavy.
There were some excellent defensive plays and fine pitching performances by Steven Oberley and Deuce McAllister. Oberley was awarded the game ball for his excellent 3 innings of work on the mound and his gritty play at catcher. The next test will be Saturday against the Yankees. They will be without pitcher/first basemen Deron Barner but will rise to the occasion!!!
