Tustin Youth Baseball Association is proud to sponsor PONY baseball in the city of Tustin. Tustin Pony provides a complete baseball program for kids from age 3 1/2 to 14 years old.
Tustin Pony baseball offers both a Spring and Fall season. The All Star season immediately follows Spring and includes several Tournaments!
PONY is considered a “high school” prep division with thirteen and fourteen year old players competing with 80’ bases and pitchers throwing from 54 feet. Pony players play one of the most fascinating games in all of youth baseball. Well beyond the beginners stage, they have mastered all but the finest points of technique, strategy, and can play the game with a skill comparable to that of older players.

Prior baseball experience is required for the Pony Division.
BRONCO is an instructional league to teach eleven and twelve-year-old players the fundamentals of baseball. The players are playing real baseball in accordance with the rules of Major League Baseball, with a few specific PONY rules where appropriate for this age group. This is a kid pitch division with a 70-foot diamond (50 feet to pitchers mound). Players, coaches and parents will be introduced to the concepts of:
Unlimited runs per inning
Position specific training
Shoes with metal cleats are OPTIONAL
Have fun in a competitive environment while promoting teamwork and good sportsmanship.
Prior baseball experience is recommended for the Bronco division
MUSTANG is an instructional league to teach nine and ten-year-old players the fundamentals of baseball. Beginning with Mustang League, the players are playing real baseball in accordance with the rules of Major League Baseball, with a few specific PONY rules where appropriate for this age group. This is a kid pitch division with a 60-foot diamond (46 feet to pitchers mound). Players, coaches and parents will be introduced to the concepts of:
Allowing base runner to lead off
Having pitchers hold base runners on base and balks
Advancing to 1st base on a dropped 3rd strike

PINTO KID PITCH is an instructional league to teach eight-year old players the fundamentals of baseball. An emphasis is placed on instruction and fun. Every player plays every game and cannot sit out more than 2 consecutive defensive innings. Every player will be given the opportunity to try different positions Every player is in the batting order. Innings are limited to 3 outs (or 5 runs). Kids begin pitching at this level on a 60-foot diamond, with a 40-foot pitching distance. Players, coaches and parents will be introduced to the concepts of:
Player pitching
Batting against player pitching.
Stealing bases.
Development of position specific skills.

PINTO MACHINE PITCH is an instructional league to teach seven-year-old players the fundamentals of baseball. Emphasis is on instruction and fun. Every player will be given the opportunity to try different positions and every player is in the batting order. Innings are limited to 3 outs (or 5 runs). This level uses the jugs pitching machine and a 60-foot diamond.

SHETLAND is an instructional league to teach five and six-year-old players the fundamentals of baseball by the simplest method possible - letting them play the game. Emphasis is on instruction, fun and learning to be competitive. Shetland coaches are allowed on the field to offer instruction during the game. Every player is given the opportunity to try different positions and 10 defensive players can be on the field at one time. Every player is in the batting order, but Shetland limits innings to 3 outs or 5 runs and a 5 pitch at-bat (no walks are rewarded). Coaches use a pitching machine during the season. The field is a 50-foot diamond. Players, coaches, and parents will be introduced to the concepts of:
Competition, winning and losing.
Scoring runs and run limits.
Batter/runner put outs.
Machine pitch.

Having fun and continuing to learn the game of baseball.
FOAL is an introduction to baseball designed for three and a half to four-year-old players. Emphasis is placed on basics of the game and fun. Parents are welcome to and encouraged to assist during practices under the coach's direction. Mighty mite coaches are allowed on the field during games.
Every player will be given the opportunity to try different positions and every player plays the entire game in the field. Every player gets an at bat every inning and there are no outs.
Players will start off hitting from a tee and progress to machine pitch. We use a 50-foot diamond and do not keep score.Games are 1 hour in length. We focus on the excitement of the game and fundamentals of teamwork and sportsmanship.
